Artist Bio
Now living in Colorado as a full-time artist, I was born on the rolling grass prairies of Oklahoma and have been greatly influenced by the depth of Indigenous artwork that reflects how we are all inter-connected with nature and with each other. This ancient, timeless truth weaves itself into the core perspective within my body of work.
Background
Defined as an artist most of my life, I began with graphite as well as pen-and-ink in detailed drawings of portraits, landscapes, and wildlife. These pieces gradually developed more recently over the past two years into multi-media and acrylics on canvas. Deep diving into studies of natural textures and patterns found in wood and rock, I combine seemingly unrelated, natural multi-media elements reflecting ordered intention wrapped in rugged, chaotic beauty.
My professional employment in marketing graphic design, influenced the implementation of modern design principles into compositions including clean, minimalistic lines; muted natural colors; and the balancing of contrasts between opposing natural concepts. Within the recent year, my work has been shown in Colorado at juried art shows: Vail Fine Art festival, Lake Dillion July Art Festival; Evergreen Mountain Art Show; and SMASH Fine Art Show in Cherry Creek, Denver.
Philosophy
With God’s guidance, I create from deep inspiration working with Him to reach out to others. By bringing a new light infused expression into existence with each piece, I hope my artwork will affect people and atmospheres for good with fresh perspectives of nature that inspire, empower, and uplift. In this, a sense of community in mutual connection to the mountains and to one another can be reached.
